ITU system Umweltdatenmanagement is now Consist ITU Environmental Software
New name to signal close relationship to international Consist Group
By changing its name to Consist ITU Environmental Software GmbH – Consist ITU for short – the company is now showing in name as well as fact its membership in the Consist World Group. The company, based in Hamburg, develops IT solutions and strategies for agencies and companies in waste management and maintains their systems. Consist ITU helps customers as far away as Bulgaria, contributing to the implementation of eGovernment 2.0.
Hamburg – The company ITU system Umweltdatenmanagement GmbH, specializing in European IT solutions for agencies and companies in waste management, changed its name in February 2008 to Consist ITU Environmental Software GmbH. "This change allows us to document in name, as well as in fact, our membership in the Consist International World Group, which has allowed us to accept large international projects for the last three years. The contacts for our customers will stay the same, and all existing contracts remain in force without change," said Ute Müller, Managing Director of Consist ITU.
ITU’s business activity and large projects
IT designs, along with the development and maintenance of IT solutions, are the company's core competencies. For more than 15 years, projects have been successfully implemented at numerous national and international government agencies and companies, including the following:
eGovernment 2.0 project:
Since July 2007, IBM, Consist Software Solutions, and Consist ITU have been developing the Central Waste Coordination Office, or "ZKS-Abfall", as a common electronic platform for waste management agencies throughout Germany. This system is necessary because as of 2010, the electronic records process will be required by the amendment to the Ordinance on Waste Recovery and Disposal Records for all parties involved in the disposal of hazardous waste (producers, transporters, and disposal companies.)
Used oil disposal in Bulgaria:
In Bulgaria, Consist ITU has been a significant contributor to the design and implementation of a pilot process for electronic consignment documentation.
Modawi software is legally compliant and is in production at Tönsmeier:
The waste disposal company Tönsmeier is the first company in Germany to handle its entire disposal process using electronic consignment notes, since February 18 – using Modawi software from Consist ITU. Modawi is currently the only software in Germany which both satisfies the new legal requirements for the electronic records procedure in the disposal of hazardous waste (eANV), and is also in production.
The service portfolio includes solutions for the implementation of paperless consignment notes, the integration of qualified electronic signatures, and waste monitoring and waste management systems throughout Europe. Moreover, Consist ITU also designs IT strategies, for instance for the administration of hazardous waste, provides process support, and consults on the EUDIN interface.

ITU system Umweltdatenmanagement GmbH was a spin-off of the DP department of ITU-Ingenieurgemeinschaft technischer Umweltschutz. It was founded in August 1995. In December 2004, ITU joined the Consist World Group. Its parent, Consist Software Solutions GmbH, is headquartered in Kiel.
