First public presentation of the electronic records procedure by software companies
Modawi Info Day: Virtual World of ZKS inboxes brought to life
The Hamburg software company Consist ITU, a specialist in waste management, has used the Modawi Info Days for years to present new developments on the road to the future of the electronic records procedure and to show practical examples of the successful application of its IT solution Modawi. This time, the highlight was communication between software companies and the Central Waste Coordination Office (ZKS).
Hamburg – At its "Modawi Info Day" event on May 15, 2009 in the Gastwerk Hotel in Hamburg, Consist ITU demonstrated the electronic records procedure using the Central Waste Coordination Office (ZKS-Abfall, or ZKS for short) to about 70 guests from the waste management industry. This was the first time that the communication of software systems with the ZKS could be presented in public in Germany.
The companies implico GmbH, Kisters AG, and TRIAS Informatik GmbH have used Consist ITU software, Modawi, to reach the final milestone for the electronic records procedure, starting communication with the ZKS.
TRIAS Informatik GmbH accessed the inboxes of the waste producer and transporter from its software, and sent a consignment note with the transporter's signature through the ZKS to the disposal company, represented by implico GmbH, for Tönsmeier Dienstleistung GmbH & Co. KG.
Similarly, KISTERS AG also sent a transmission to the ZKS in the role of waste producer. There, the signature of the disposal company was added using the Länder-eANV (a cost-effective internal portal provided by the German federal states (Länder) to enable participation in the electronic records procedure). Finally, the disposal company sent the consignment note via the Länder eANV back to the waste producer. For this live demonstration, the speakers at the Modawi Info Day used the test accesses for the ZKS.
"I see the presentation at our now-traditional Modawi Info Day as a great step forward. It has really made the virtual world of the inboxes tangible and alive for many people for the first time," explains Ute Müller, managing director of Consist ITU Environmental Software GmbH.
Schedule
The next step towards the digitalization of waste management is when the ZKS is taken live, planned for July 1, 2009. As of April 2010, the records procedure for the disposal of hazardous waste must already have been converted to an electronic procedure.
