Dispozal of hazardous waste

More and more companies starting to use electronic records procedure with Modawi

As of next year, records of the disposal of hazardous waste must be maintained electronically in Germany; the paper procedure will no longer be an option. An increasing number of waste producers, disposal companies, and transporters are thus converting to the electronic variant, relying on the well-tested Modawi software solution by the Hamburg company Consist ITU. Among them is Deutsche Bahn, the German railway company.

Hamburg – More than 30 companies have already chosen the Modawi eANV solution as their path to the electronic records procedure. The majority of manufacturers of waste management software have also integrated Modawi into their software as cooperative partner.  Due to the enormous volume of waste, the efficient control of waste streams is of decisive importance: More than 20 million tons of hazardous waste must be disposed of in Germany every year (source: Destatis). Legislators have mandated that hazardous waste disposal records must be converted to an electronic procedure (the electronic records procedure, or eANV from the German acronym) by April of 2010.

Modawi in the lead: Powerful, simple, reliable, secure, and cost-effective

Modawi is a software package that provides all the functions needed for the processes of the electronic records procedure, and is used by waste producers, transporters, disposal companies, and providers of waste management software. Modawi is powerful, quick to integrate, functionally reliable, and cost-effective. Since Modawi is operated as an integrated eANV solution within the company, users retain full control of all processes and data. Any existing waste management software can continue to be used. The users only see a new signature dialog, but never leave their familiar software.

Modawi is the only eANV solution working with the new electronic documents which has already been in production use for over a year. It is a solution provided by the Hamburg company Consist ITU, specialized in IT solutions in waste management.

Modawi also allows the integration of subcontractors, customers, and representative offices into the electronic records procedure, even if they don't have a local waste management software solution. Modawi WebSigner allows the signature of prepared documents over the Internet.

The German railway company Deutsche Bahn (DB) is one of the companies who have selected Modawi for their path to the electronic records procedure. Their business activities produce about 7 million tons of waste per year (including construction, office, and production waste), of which about 13% is categorized as hazardous, and must therefore be entirely tracked, documented electronically in the future, and disposed of properly.

"We are happy that the Deutsche Bahn has chosen us, and we will support them in their conversion to legal waste records management based on a uniform electronic procedure using Modawi," says Ute Müller, CEO of Consist ITU. Since Modawi is operated as an integrated solution, the DB can continue to use their custom-developed, mature waste management system, and continue to work with familiar processes.
