Background

The modeling of complex technical processes often includes a series of individual steps and participating people/offices (request generation, report claims, report compensation, report evaluation, invoicing, payment, etc.), while from the point of view of the service consumer affected they must be concluded quickly and legally sound.

To meet these requirements, an IT system modeling the process must walk a tightrope between automation and decision on the part of a person responsible. Moreover, the continual need for adaptation to changed legal frameworks results in a requirement for a DP system capable of wide-ranging configuration by user.

The Liberace platform

Liberace fulfills precisely these requirements for configurability of business logic. Changes to organizational structure, to administrative processes, to legal frameworks, or very specific customization needs due to decisions in individual cases, and so on, can all be resolved by the user by configuration – quickly and without programming.

Liberace provides standard properties needed by technical processes. How a particular process is presented to users, and which data is processed, depends on the choice and implementation of the user interface and on the configuration settings made, and these are all determined by the users. A significant portion of the work in creating a Liberace application is therefore the determination of the interface design and the configuration with users, and changes over the course of the project. This process is only possible if the developers, as well as later users and process designers, can make changes through configuration, without costly programming.

The Liberace API

Liberace provides an API enabling other applications (e.g. Office applications using VBA macros) to use the functions available. Of course, all defined user authorizations are taken fully into account.

Remote control of Liberace

Another variant available is the remote control of the interface. For instance, the enterprise data administration module can be used in four different ways:

  1. Directly through the user interface of this application, by hiding all other functions,
  2. from a different application through the API, so that the form design of the other application can remain homogeneous,
  3. via remote control, that is, by direct calls to the corresponding form with or without a request to show particular records, either in order to read records or,  depending on user authorization, to write them as well,
  4. through incorporation of the enterprise data administration configuration elements into another Liberace-based application.

Basic functions

  • Free configuration of organizational structure and access authorization
  • Free configuration of validation rules and processing rules
  • Procedure, schedule, and document management with free definition of forms and text components
  • Extension of the data structure and changes to form layout
  • Powerful evaluation functions
  • Configurable import and export interfaces, own API
  • Deployment support, runs with terminal server
  • Database-independent (DB2, Informix, Ingress, MS Access, MS SQLServer, Oracle)
  • Browser, Java or Windows user interface
