Interface Definition

Governikus ITU is a specialist in consulting and implementation for innovative information systems related to environmental topics.

Very early on, Governikus ITU was active in working out data models for multimedia views of operations (e.g. with the umbrella system for waste management at the Federal Ministry for the Environment from 1994 to 1997). Different methodologies, viewpoints, legal definitions, and priorities, however, still make this type of data unification difficult. In the past 15 years, the tools available for the modeling and implementation, as well as the design of user interfaces for IT systems have made significant progress, so the desire for flexible analysis and reporting from compact, redundancy-free data sources is getting easier and easier to satisfy.

The basis for such integration work, however, is always the definition of interfaces that:

• model workflows that go beyond company boundaries (e.g. the eANV interface of the BMU)
• combine data into statistics and reports that span companies, Germany, or the entire EU (hazardous waste statistics)
• link data from different systems intelligently together and make it comparable (comparison of PRTR data with ASYS data), or
• take international aspects of interface definitions into consideration (Eudin interface for international waste transport).

We can support you in the application of interface definitions or we can work with you to create definitions that fit your existing systems and basic structures. We especially have extensive experience in the modeling of complex workflows in interfaces.
The compilation of information from different systems or the conversion of data for transfer to other systems, processes now handled by BPM software (Business Process Management), are also tasks we can perform for you.
